Results from the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program (I-ELCAP) study, which begain in 1993, were published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2006 (.pdf). The results showed that CT screening can boost lung cancer’s five year survival rates as high as other screened cancers. Data continues to build both nationally and internationally in support of the I-ELCAP findings. To date, this reserach includes the best published practices for managing the findings from a CT scan for lung cancer.
