Faces of Lung Cancer

In Memory of Pam Hefner

Pam Hefner and Rod
Pam and Rod on their wedding day

In loving memory of Pam Hefner, who truly followed her life's motto of "Live, Love, and Laugh."

Pam had her left lung removed from small cell lung cancer on September 25, 2003.  Over the entire year following surgery, Pam devoted her life to letting everyone around her know how much she loved them and soaking up all the love that was shared in return. During this period it was clear that Pam was more interested in how friends and family would bear the pain of losing her than she was with the horrific pain that the cancer caused her to endure.

Each and every family member and close and loyal friend was given a very special emotional gift from Pam during this time.  Those who witnessed this "sharing of love" have told us that it has changed their lives forever.  Those who missed the opportunity to experience this outpouring of love, affection, commitment, and devotion will ultimately not be able to understand the true power of these emotions. In the end it is truly all that matters.

Pam, who was just 49 years old when she died, left behind a group of family and friends that are so solidly cemented together that no outside force or influence could ever damage their relationship.  That is a gift that is hard to repay.  It is a gift from a person who is certainly in the company of God.

Live, Love, and Laugh,
The family of Pamyla Hefner
