Faces of Lung Cancer

In Memory of Ruth E. Cooman "Tootie"

My mom was diagnosed with lung cancer in March 2003. Her battle with it ended on December 13, 2003. It was a long and difficult year-something that you never want to watch a loved one go through. Mom was married to my dad for 55 years and had four girls, including me. She left us all, but we are still here with all her love in our hearts.

When mom became ill, our whole world changed; so many unanswered questions, so many things that we thought we would never have to face. Mom stayed strong as long as she could, always worrying about us and my dad. In the end, she wanted to go to a hospice facility. I knew in my heart that if she wanted to go, she could not fight anymore. It was time to let her go and become an angel.

So, like mom always said, she is now the brightest star in the sky.

We miss you mom!

Love,
Cindi, Betty Lou, JoAnne, Luanne and Dad
