Faces of Lung Cancer

In Memory of William Parker McCulla

William Parker McCulla was not only my father...he was one of the most perfect men I have ever known.  He passed away due to small cell lung cancer, with his family by his side.  He was only 57 years old. His loving wife (and my mother), Colleen, was widowed at the young age of 49.  She held him in her arms as he passed.  He has a son and two daughters.  We are all married and our spouses love him as much as we do.  His five grandchildren adore him and their "Grandpa" or "Papa" will forever be a part of their lives.

My Dad was extremely successful in life.  He had a brilliant career, a wonderful marriage and family, a strong faith and a ton of friends. He always took care of us and everyone around him.  During his fight against cancer he remained strong....he was a role model even then.  He never let the cancer win.  Not one day was wasted or given to the disease.  He lived less than two years after diagnosis but they were the most precious two years of my life.

I will forever mourn the loss of my father.  I will forever have a piece of my heart that aches.  I will forever keep him in my daily life.

I love you Daddy.
-Marci

My father-in-law's passing has shown that people do make a difference in this world. He can say that he left this world a better place than he found it. His family is a legacy to his name and living proof of hope, in a world that sometimes feels destined for disaster. His example has strengthened who I am today and who I hope to be tomorrow. He demonstrated that strength is shown through compassion and faith, that integrity comes from keeping promises made and that love is a decision, born of commitment and of hard work.

We miss him more than words can express, in a form of pain that can never be described. He is now at peace and one day we hope to be peaceful in acceptance of our loss.

A kind father, grandfather and friend-Bill, we are truly blessed to have walked with you.
-Your son-in-law, Sam
