Call For Coordinated Effort to
Improve Personal Health Care Data
June 15, 2009 [Washington, DC] -- LCA joins Friends of Cancer Research to call for a coordinated effort to routinely collect, aggregate and analyze health information to greatly improve accuracy and efficiency of the health care system. A letter to Congressional leaders from LCA, Friends of Cancer Research and other partner organizations. To view this letter, click here.
As legislative efforts to revitalize our health care system get underway, LCA supports creating a high level public-private partnership to develop standards and the ability to link health data repositories to capitalize on the many sources of health data that are currently isolated from one another. The goal is to help improve the information that health care providers and patients use when making medical decisions.
This proposal has been submitted to congressional leaders for consideration as part of health care reform.
This recommendation emanated from an earlier white paper on comparative effectiveness research that was authored by Friends of Cancer Research and a blue ribbon panel of experts and endorsed by LCA. To read the white paper, click here.
